Description

While our own population is growing steadily, those of our closest biological relatives, the great apes — the non-human members of the family Hominidae — have slid precariously toward extinction. Over the past half-century: Populations of most of the great apes are 50% less than they were 50 years ago. The population numbers of three out of our four closest relatives — chimpanzees, bonobos and gorillas — have declined by at least half, earning these species an endangered status from the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources. The Mountain Gorilla population is now estimated at only 6,400 to 6,700. Ape Photo by Michael Nichols with touch ups in PhotoShop CS and Lightwave. Vegetation and atmosphere are Vue 5I rendered at user settings at 600 dpi. Thanks for looking.

Excellent manipulation for this image. Yes it is worrying about the dying species on this crazy planet of ours. Tony :-)
