Description
Did some excellent snorkeling here on my recent visit to Oahu.
Hanauma Bay is a marine embayment formed within a volcanic cone or crater located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oahu (just east of Honolulu). Hana means 'bay' and uma means 'shelter,' rendering "Shelter Bay." Hanauma is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island and has suffered somewhat from overuse (at one time accommodating over three million visitors per year).
That having been said, Hanauma Bay is both a Nature Preserve and a Marine Life Conservation District (the first of several established in the State of Hawaii). Visitors are required by law to refrain from mistreating marine animals or from touching, walking, or otherwise having contact with coral heads.
The marine life that can spotted here is remarkable given how crowded this place can become. Get there early (like at 8:30 am), go through the 23-minute mandatory movie orientation of how to not mistreat the corals and marine life, and then you can go out onto the beach before practically anybody else appears.

Yep, Hanauma Bay is beautiful. I have seen it many times from the air. Usually going from Oahu to the Big Island. Wonderful shot. Aloha, Elvis would love it.

it is always a good idea to take a slow pace when snorkelling, with patience a lot more will be seen especially the tiny colourful small fish shoals which hide in the corals. I would have saturated the colours a bit on this view but thats a personal preference !

Just uploaded a more saturated version. Hope you like it!
