Description

My friend Kathy's garden contains this herb, which I have never grown. I was fascinated by its appearance, and found the following information equally interesting. Borage is an annual herb that grows in all zones to a height of 1 to 4 feet. It has gray green bristly edible leaves 4-6 inches long that taste like cucumbers. Its is noted for its blue flat star shaped nodding 1 1/2" flowers Borage will grow in sun or shade with medium watering and tolerates poor soil. It reseeds but does not transplant easily. It is a drought susceptible annual that is a soil binder. Borage's tender leaves are good for salads, pickling, iced drinks or cooked greens. Its sweet tasting flowers are great for salads, candied or garnish. Anyone growing it will be amazed at how it attracts bees. The seed is brownish black and about the size of a wheat kernel, allowing it to be seeded with conventional seeding equipment. Thanks for stopping by.

With your marvelous information I know to never plant this. LOL No more bees in my year, please. They really have a unique blossom and you must have lain down beneath the plants to capture such a fabulous pov of them.

Oh, this is amazing! Another plant I had never before seen or heard of! Beautiful colors, flower design, bud whiskers...nirvanah for sure! Got to be from some other planet, probably piggybacked here on a meteor.
