Description

Jesus Christ Lizard, (Basiliscus plumifrons) This beautiful Lizard is a Basiliscus plumifrons . Four known species of basilisk exist and are distributed from tropical Mexico down through Central America to northern South America. The basilisk is also called the "Jesus Christ lizard" because of its ability to walk on water. It supporting itself by the unsteady hydrodynamics as it strokes its rear feet through the water, opening up a ventilation pocket so that it can extract its foot without dragging it through the water Photo taken in May 2008 in Burgers-Zoo in the Netherlands, in a greenhouse wilderness display. Even in this environment you need to be lucky to see this Lizard. Thanks for your time, Have a very nice day Henk

Named because it walks on water? I would have guessed because if I stumbled on this with no warning the first thing out of my mouth would be "Jesus Christ! help me!" LOL Fabulous shot. Great opportunity taken well.

Great shot, I tried doing that at the zoo and it's hard through dirty glass and harsh light. Well done!
