Description

Another peeper. This is probably the most detailed shot I've gotten so far of one of them. Sorry about it being so dark but this was taken before I'd realized I could get it to work with flash so I was just using the LED flying saucer lamp. Postwork was minimal (don't think I added any green tone but I may be mistaken). EDIT: Looking at it now, I think I definitely did do some greening. EDIT 2: not assuming gender in frogs anymore (because if you think about it, that just makes no fucking sense -- it's not like they can tell us what gender they are -- plus it's cissexist and binarist). sorry about that.

It feels like you develop relationships with these animals, like you must have some intimate sense of their movements, how they rest, move, sleep, etc., not to mention a sense of the world they inhabit...I showed your gallery to a biologist friend and he asked if you did research. He hasn't much of an artistic eye, or I think he'd have noticed how fine some of your shots are, you color sensibilities, composition, sense of texture, etc. But he was impressed enough to think you work with nature for a living. All I can say is you have an affinity with the things you photograph often, the leaves and droplets and insects and waters, etc. And it makes viewing these an intimate experience. That is, it's not just a pic of a frog: It's a view from an eye that seems to know. The leaves here (grass?) are like bamboo. And the frog looks quite rested...
