Description

Hello ! I didnt have much time for drawing, but one day I was so much in the mood, that I just insisted to have time. This is the result. I think these watermills are very fascinating, so I started to make a drawing of one of my Shots. There was a huge tree behind the house, but I didnt draw it. I think it would disturb the building too much. I just used a pencil number 3 and a soft propelling pencil number 5. I want to thank you all for your sweet and warm welcome words. That made me feel so happy coming back to RR. Thank you friends :)) Have a lovely day/evening. Now that we are home again, the good weather came back. LOL!

Hughs Helle, this is really excellent! You mastered perfectly the light in this drawing, to such extent that in the thumbnail I beleived that you had created an "old" photo by postworking an original shot. I adore this style which is not so common at RR!

helle, as in other of your pencil works, you have a great respect for detail, which you render with great care. But you also respect space: You allow plenty of open space here, with a little bit of modeling and enough detail to tell us it's a wall, a patch of land, etc., but you don't crowd it; you let the space 'sing'. What I also love is your subtle sense of casualness, which you show in other drawings as well: How you allow shapes to just relax on the page. (Bricks, the roof tiles, the weeds in the lawn, etc.) It's basic to drawing, I know; but doing it well is a joy. And the combination of all these creates a simple, beautiful rendering, rich in detail but with lots of relaxed feeling and even fun. I love your pencil work. Even your simple trees in the background: a few simple strokes and you've got their presence. Very fine, very relaxed, and a very "helle" work. It's lovely.
