Description

Something a little bit different today to break up the beach shots from that sunrise the other day... as it happens this shot is in fact from THIS morning's sunrise, just a couple of hours ago, when I decided since I was still up that it'd be a good idea to go exploring on the rocks with my camera, a new vantage point on me at sunrise (thanks for the suggestion Rich ;)) I actually took this intending to convert to black and white, as I'm kind of on a free-time mission to find a workflow I can get used to with regards to black and white conversions as it's not something I've really paid much attention to up to this point. The sunrise itself wasn't spectacular but the light it cast across the bay was pretty special... more of that in the coming week. I've still got plenty of beach shots for those who were enjoying the series, maybe I'll go back to them for tomorrow.. But for todays image I'd welcome any critique which might pop to mind regarding the black and white treatment, since I'm still learning and finding my feet... Have a great day whatever you're up to! Adam

Extremely vibrant contrasts in this b/w. Your conversions, whether they flow or not, are stellar, as are your compositions.

Spectacular light in this scene and I do like the black and white. Seems perfect for the rocks. That one looks like a giant turtle. Beautiful work, Adam.

I love b/w, what i did best when I used film. This is my sort of image, really contrasty, but I also like high key stuff.... how about a bit of that, Adam?!

Great image Adam - you've done a first-rate job of the mono conversion, and I would say that you've got the contrast & light just about spot-on. Great image!

Wonderful capture - I have a copy of Scott Kelby's book on photoshop CS3. In it he discusses several different BW conversion methods. If you have Photoshop and are wishing to explore what fits for you best there are choices...That is a dramatic sky, no matter which method you used.
