Description

Second in my Simple Pleasure series. These tiny unknowns came up all over in the yard after our first heavy rain a week or so ago. At first there were only a few and in a place I couldn't get to, but now they are everywhere. Interesting to me is in the photo the stems look dark green but with the naked eye the stems look black and very woody. The 'flower' parts are about 1/8th inch in size. Better if you zoom! Titled this way as a reminder of the simple things in our busy lives and I wish you all a simply lovely day! Thanks for looking, previous comments and your patience as I am still receiving no ebots at all!!! Have a beautiful weekend all! ***Thank you Andrea (as always right on!) for identifying this little flower as Polygonum persicaria

This is a fascinating picture, Lynn! So many different species in there. I think this is Polygonum persicaria, known as Redshank here in the UK. Other sorts of polygonum are also known as Bistort or just persicaria, so you could search for those names. Although this sort of photograph is very different to the arty compositions we also have on this site, I think that both are equal in value. Like a pound of feathers and a pound of sugar both weigh the same. Simple pleasures indeed! Thankyou for showing us!
