This is a beautiful painting. I've spent some time with it tonight. When I first looked at it, I was immediately struck by the bright buildings, wet street and dark sky. But something a little bit bothered me about the area seen through the arch. I wasn't getting a feeling of depth. I put my laptop down to go and get some tea and looked back as I was leaving. Looking from a distance was a whole different experience. Not only did the area under the arch have added depth, but the other aspects I had liked were magnified. I also became aware of the reflection of the warmth of the tall center building in the back wall and in the wall closest to the viewer, and in the continuation of the highlight from the clouds to that tall building. As beautiful as this image is, the actual painting must be stunning in person. From now on when looking at your images, I'm going to set the laptop down, move 6 feet away, and look again!
