Description

These buildings are part of the Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. The Hopewell Furnace was founded in 1771 by ironmaker Mark Bird and operated until 1883. It lies in a setting of forested hills and valleys along French Creek in Berks County near Elverson in southeastern Pennsylvania. It is an example of an early 19th century rural 'Iron Plantation', a forerunner of today's iron and steel giants. This picture was taken on 5 June 2006. Thank you for viewing and commenting on my recent uploads and a special 'Thank you' to those that may have added some of them to their favorites, Sig....

I am watching a show on the travel channel right now called 1,000 places to see before you die, great show. I am thinking you have traveled to most of them, with what you have shared with us. Love seeing these, hope to get to visit many of them as well some day! :)

It's not the seat of an armorer. It's not even the mill of a gunmaker. The plow is further West in Moline. Ornamental craft is in Charleston and New Orleans. The smokey glow feeds a need to understand Hell.
