Description

Eeek. LOL. I found this in my kitchen window. I braved a few shots, tried to rescue what I thought was a wasp. I couldn't get it, because it would move, I would squeal and jump. Later my daughter told me it was a fake wasp. (Whatever that is). I finally caught it a couple days later and released it into the garden. Once he realized he was free, he flew away. My good deed for the day. :) I have a few more shots I may share. Unfortunaly, I don't know what it is. I tried to do a bit of research, but no luck. Sorry I haven't been around. I have been busy! And we're having a heatwave. UGH! It was cooler today... only about 108 F. Pfffft. It's hard to get anything done in this heat. I hope it's cooler where you are! My previous upload, "~Daisy's Heart~". Have a Super Sunday! ~HUGS~ Melinda

I would have guessed that it was a wasp also, lol. I am sure someone at "http://bugguide.net/node/view/15740" can tell you what it is. Nice capture and BRAVO for the release. Thanks for sharing. Lee

Melinda, you are SO CUTE! I can just see you, too -- squealing and jumping LOL if its one thing I dont rescue from the house its these things :( shame on me, I know, but my gosh, I couldn't touch these things no matter how many paper towels I used. shudder they sting and hurt .. so I use spray :| when they go to sleep, then I put them outside. :D Good shot here.. :)

I don't know, that sure looks like a wasp to me. Never heard of a fake wasp. I know all about mocking birds, though. Excellent macro of the poor little critter, apparently helpless at the point of your lens. No need to carry on, they won't bother you if you don't bother them. As for the heat, I am a little cooler here than you are, but not by much. I've got the A/C going, because the furnace is wearing me down.
