Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image. This is the first in this week's series of "Beetle" mania, lol. I imagine almost everyone in the world knows this little beetle. I even know it's real common name is Ladybird Beetle but as a kid, I was told it was a Ladybug and so I still use that term. Very beneficial to gardeners and it's larvae are even more so. I venture to say there may be one more beetle posted this week that is pretty common but I will be surprised if many recognize any of the others. I would love to find out otherwise. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

This is a really good shot. I like the composition alot. I'm not so good on identifying bugs but I know ladybugs. This year I seem to have TONS of them. If you get a chance, please look at my post today and see if you can help me figure out what the bug is that I posted. I'm just bug-dumb. :-)

We always called them ladybugs too. And when I was very small, I said the ones without spots were the manbugs... lol! Wonderful composition!

A super clear photo especially considering it was hand-held! Lovely details and as usual, a great composition. I've always known them as ladybirds however, as I grew older, I heard more people refer to them as ladybugs, so I sort of adopted that term LOL! Hugs xx

I like the way you've got it in profile. We have 24 true Ladybird species in Britain, I may have seen half a dozen or so of those!
