Description
The village of Boscastle, in a deep narrow valley on the northern coast of Cornwall, England, experienced a terrible flood in 2004. I remember seeing it on the news over here on this side of the pond. Though well on it's way to being rebuilt now, there are still signs of the flooding. One of the shops we went into still shows the high water mark on the wall, as high as my shoulder. This shows the natural harbor that leads from the village to the ocean. Oh what a view! I almost painted a scene such at this in watercolor class. I know about watermarks.... as we had a flood in '97 here, but the American Legion Hall by the river got flooded. They fixed it, and painted it, but placed the mark of the height of the water in black paint, and dated it, so we never forget it. ;o) Either way, it is a good memorial. We lack rain here this year.

Arr! The beautiful little town of Boscastle. I was there only a couple of days before the flood and about 9 months after. When they were still clearing up! A perfect photo, of a perfect English Seaside Village.
