Description
I originally worked up a similar image with UF in 2000 (http://www.fractalus.com/paul/wheel2.html), but it was pretty rudimentary.
So to celebrate the Red Wings' 2008 success, I took another try at it. This one is a much closer match with the real thing, thanks to eight years more UF experience and some new tools that weren't available then.
Thanks for looking!

Nice UF work, can't have been easy, either.

It took a little "finger" work to trace this. Detroit Red Wings are champions of the National Hockey League, and for the fourth time in few years? Ice hockey doesn't raise much of a stir in the UK, though I have watched a couple of matches. I'll take it as "red" (sorry!) that the representative accuracy is profound. We expect perfection, no less! I have to doff my cap again. Dare I ask how many layers were involved this time? I suspect many.

Cliff, Missouri - Thanks! Let's see, this is the fourth time the Red Wings have won the Cup in the past 11 years: 1997, 1998, 2002, and now 2008. Not a bad run. It's said that the Stanley Cup is the toughest championship to win in professional sports.. Here's a link to the team site; you can compare my version with the actual team logo: http://redwings.nhl.com/ The image took 52 layers; I could probably make it more efficient if I spent some time optimizing it, but even on my aging computer, the UPR only takes about two minutes to generate so I'll probably leave it as-is and move on to other projects.

It's fantastic. Just so hard to believe it is a fractal! It puts me in mind of a motorbike logo.
