Description

original pencil sketch scanned and painted entirely with ulead photo express 3se. spring 2005. my first full digital painting. took 16 hours :)

thats a very peaceful selfportret-scene !( so it seems)i tried to make a drawing with a table right on the computer, but thats not so easy as it seems. perhaps scanning works better.

thank you,light :) yes, that is an image of me at 19, a very long time ago in hawaii in college, mixed with an image of shadow surfing in santa cruz, one of my cats, robbye, in the late 80's and our tent in the nineties camping all over. i have done most of my fully digital art from scratch on the computer but i really is a little easier to start with a pencil sketch on paper scanned to the hard drive and then fully colored in in stages. i did a lot of real life watercolors that way, with light pencil sketch to get the idea of what should be there. painting with a mouse is a really interesting experience and gets easier with time :)

thank you, anna.:)( btw, i just realized i forgot to explain why it is so small. it was made on the previous computer and smaller monitor to be about full screen sized... just a note there...)

thank you :) i have no patience, i'm just stubborn and wanted it as close to watercolor as i could get, having never tried it before without a brush and paint ;) i just kept adding a zillion colors as i went along. it would be larger but it was made on the first monitor (15 inch) and that was its screensize max.
