I'm old, married to Linda ( http://lindamccarthy.redbubble.com/ ) for what she thinks are 20 long years.  Two step-children, four grandchildren and a great dog pal, our Dirk.
I am an accountant now with an eclectic job history. Have loved photography for years and am just now getting back into it after a 20 year hiatus. Lost most of my prior work and gear in an arson fire. So. I guess you could say I'm starting over with my preferred personal therapy.
It's nice to have a place where I can look at the work of others for ideas and challenges, as well as a format to display my own work.

You are so lucky to have these growing wild, and this is a perfectly beautiful shot. I have never seen one outside of a picture. I got this info from the BBC site. "The Ladies' Slipper Orchid is Britain's biggest and most beautiful orchid. It's also the rarest. The flower was so desirable that by 1916 it was thought to be extinct, picked out of existence by over-eager horticulturists and collectors. Amazingly though, a single specimen was discovered, by chance, in 1930 enabling a reintroduction programme that continues to this day. Given the fragile nature and exclusivity of the beautiful flower, the project remains classified and the location of the orchids introduced back into the wild has been kept secret in order to safeguard the species. The orchid is thought to be one of the slowest growing plants in the world and can take between 10 to 12 years to grow from seed to flowering size"
