Description

He ask for some photos so here they are. I bought the len at a pawm shop for $40. i saw on line they around $125 new. I saw too some tests shots side by side of a normal lens. The mirror len is not as sharp as the normal glass lens. This len is set on F8 at all times. So you have to get use to it if you shoot in low lighting. but it be best with a lot of lighting. Althought I do have some good shots with low lighting with it and even with the 2x thing on it to make it 1000mm or is it 1500mm. I forgot lol and that makes the f stop be F10 then[got to add 2 F stops ] Anyway I bought the lens thinking I can get someing to make it fit my camera. I did that with two other lens. Lol and behold I forgot the len at home when I went to the camera shop here in town that sells that stuff and have all the answers for you . They say that type of lens will not fit at all. I looked on the net and could not find it at all on how to put my lens on. I saw "T rings" somethings like that [lol forgot] and I asked Richartphotos; he told me but I still do not know what they are[over my head for now]. If it what I think; I can put a canon len on my camera. I was looking at that too. {I going to do it because some one told me I can not do it at the camera shop here in town then bring in the camea and show them hahhaha].[might be a pipe dream lol] I when home and just before I went to bed I looked at the lens again and wonder why there is no numbers for the settins of the lens. I thought it was because of the F8 stop and that it. I try to turn the len to get it to forus but it was hard then I pulled on it and the tube came off. lol I saw it was the sun guard was covering the lens and I could get to the thing that you put the len on the camera. I try to put the len on and it worked. LOLOLOLOLOLOOLOL I was so happy and I tried to take photos and it worked. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Now I useing it a lot. Oh this is not a zoom len. It a 500mm and that it. I put it on animals and they gone. I have to learn to spot them and then get them into the lens. It not easy and if I have the 2x on the camera too lol They real hard to get into the lens. flowers too. I be looking for them in the veiwfinder and can not find them lol oh the first photo on the top left is how the camea came; note no numbers on the bottom of the len because the sun guard is covering the numbers. right top is the sun guard off the lens. Middle left you looking into the lens from the front. I thought the center of the photos be out of forus but the not. The middle right I put the sun guard on and looking into the lens. Bottom left is the lens on my camera. And the bottom right is my bag. I got it free at this place that was remodelling and they was going to thow it away and I took it[note it a oil field bag that have a big ad on it; if you need they help call that number]. I put the lens in the bubble warp and put them into the bag. Hope to buy a real camera bag but they cost money lol . I know I a cheapo but I try to live a good life and within my means. Plus I got bills to pay like every one do. thanks for looking and comments.

I have looked for different lens for my camera but never really found any. One said it could be used with a tube but when I spoke to a guy at a camera shop about it, he said they only tell you that to sell you the lens and although you could get it to stay on the camera that way, the lens wouldn't be very affective and not give the service you bought it for. So no super macro or wide angle for me. :-) I'll have to wait until I can save up another $%00-$600 bucks and look at new, reconditioned, upgraded cameras.

Wonderful explanation and nice find. Isn't it just amazing all the ways a camera can keep us learning and entertained and connected. Great documentary photos, too!

Jock, I had the same question when I inquired about a mirror lens when they told me I needed a tring.I had read about t rings but did not really understand until the camera store explained to me.I already had a big Sigma so I really had no reason to buy one.glad you are getting good results I looked a binoculars in the same store that originally cost $1500 and was on clearance for $700.I never knew the difference first hand between a $100 pair and a $1500 pair until I looked through one.I was inside the store looking across a 6 lane street plus at least twice more that distance. I could read the print on a newspaper in a paper machine through a dark film coated glass door.then I knew but still could not afford it -haha

You have done well with this collage and narrative Jocko and if the bag carries the camera and lens and you are happy with it, its a camera bag. I have a large bag that I used with my cam corder and all my gear is stored in that, but when I go out with Alan I usually put a couple of filters and spare batteries and memory cards into a rucksack/backpack and use that as my camera bag. You never know you might come across one in the pawn shot where you found this mirror lens. It sure looks like you found a bargain and fantastic that it fits your camera without having to get an adaptor. Excellent work and a very interesting read. Bravo!!!!!
