Description

I promised myself that I would try more often to do different things outside of my comfort zone this year... So I decided to try to do something without any 3D elements, that didn't involve a portrait, using a very narrow pallette, no references and no real plan, lol. This image was painted from scratch in photoshop. I know I say this a lot, but I am not really too happy with it and think I could have prolly done a whole lot more than I did. I got to a point where I could go no further and here we are. Critical Comments Encouraged!! Please! ~ thanks for viewing

It looks amazing! The only thing I'm not as crazy about is the building in the background, a lighthouse? To me, it throws the composition a bit off balance because it's two vertical forms almost at the same eye level and it breaks the softness and harmony of the rest. But the rest of it, the vastness of the landscape, the colour and that vessel look so incredible! Here I dared critizing lol but seriously, try removing that "lighthouse" and everything looks more 3D and the whole thing so eery, almost mystique...

Outstanding - a digital painting from scratch - you've certainly got talent!

Well... I know I always say this too.. but how can you improve something that is already perfect? If it wasn't you doing this I would say it's a 3d render , period... But it's you and only you can achieve this in such a perfect way. What really caught my attention was the fact it isn't shocking... you dont´need too many elements to make it happen. The mood is fantastic.. soothing, the colors are perfect. Don´t change one single pixel!!!!

But even if you aren't all that happy with it, you have to see its design value. (Really, I said so, so you have to.) I think it's beautiful, contemplative, relaxing, and I want a ride(!), while managing to be very commercial at the same time (e.g. I could see either mass production or a large company paying hundreds or thousands as a commissioned piece to decorate its office). There are the pieces that please you the most, and then there are the lovely but less loved children that make it doable on a 9-5 basis. :-)

Wow! Love the the colors, the atmosphere and the tranquil feel to it. Although your poser images are also terrific, I would really love to see more of your 2D art.

I think the dark edge on the further side of the ship clashes with the bright light. The highlit base works perfectly and I wonder why you feel the shadows contrast would be that dark.Im not saying Im right, its just something that made me write once looking over the piece.I feel as though the rim would cast more like the base highlight than what you went for.Im a terrible painter imo but thats my remark:-)Beautifull painting all the same, cal
