Description

One of the other big loves in my life is music, and especially Progressive Rock! I was in two minds about posting this, as it seems a little self-indulgent, so I hope you'll forgive me, but this is me on stage with the band Manning at last Saturday's gig at the Classic Rock Society in Rotherham, England. From left to right we are: Kris Hudson-Lee (bass guitar), Phil Wilkes (Me! keyboards), Guy Manning (songwriter, singer, acoustic guitar and occasional keyboards), Danny Rhodes (drums) and Kev Currie (lead guitar). This looks like it was taken during one of Kev's solos! Thanks to Dave Webb for the picture. If you are interested in what we sound like, you can dowload some sample tracks here: http://www.guymanning.com/Sampler.html and other gig photos can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46719991@N00/tags/manning/ And of course if you like that - go and buy an album or two! I recommend "Songs from the Bilston House" for starters! Thanks for looking and for any comments - they are always appreciated! Phil

I'm not so much of a prog rocker, more goth/indie kid. But I have grown up now, fair play for playing live gigs, the one I played scared the crap out of me!!! Good to see the other interests of the artists on this site!

Hi Phil - that's a great gig shot. But more important.... WOOOWW!! I'm not a huge fan of rock, but I just listened to the 'Lost' demo on guymanning.com, and you have a new fan here - this is fantastic MUSIC! I especially loved the interplay between lead guitar and synth on this track. The expressive range of Guy's voice is terrific.. soft and sweet one moment, strong and biting the next, and the vocal harmony.. well, I had better stop now.. I think you get the picture! Conclusion - indulge yourself, don't be shy about it! Share yourself with the world even if it seems irrelevant and self-indulgent (like that commentary of mine you said you enjoyed!), because many will appreciate it even if they do not say so, and those who do say so give you something back that is hard to come by.
