Description

Another forest, another stream, nothing much to say other that I like doing them :) And once again focus is on the back-light effect, and a "streaming effect" in the brook (mixed materials with different bump settings controlled by a bitmap function (drawn in Photoshop)). Vue Infinite render, some 2 hrs with "User Settings", volumetric atmosphere, shadowmaps, Global Ambience, 3000x1875 original render. All objects are my design, trees modeled in Onyxtree, ivy made with "IvyGenerator". Thanks for looking, comments etc. welcome and appreciated. Have a nice weekend - Lars

In my opinion, this is certainly one of your very best works to date. Many of your 3D 'paintings' have a quality that I admire, which is a suggestion of a deeper world beyond the confines of the painting. You have hinted at the trees beyond, subtly highlighting with hazy light. You have frequently demonstrated in your previous work that you are a keen observer of the realities of the natural world and because of that, your paintings touch us with a representation of 'truth'. To be fair, beeches are perhaps my most favourite trees, so I guess I would be very receptive to any work that represented them convincingly. Yet it is the believability of the brook banks that also make this a well crafted landscape. I am scoring this as '5' but I think it should have a score which indicates 'a cut far above the rest!'

The water is simply superb. I'm not so sure about the use of shadow maps. Sure it made the render very fast but I don't like the shadows, specially in the tree foliage. Anyway, this is a lovely place, perfectly composed and set up.
