Description

When I was a child, I lived at my gran's house much of the time. Gran was a member of the Garden Club in that town, later a president of it. She had 7 seperate flower gardens and fruit trees throughout the yards and a grape arbor. One garden near the back door was filled with these beautiful flowers. Everytime I visit Andrea's beautiful garden via her photos I am reminded of gran's gardens, as bountiful and beautiful as Andrea's.I attribute part of my love of flowers to her, but the biggest part is just my personal connection with Mother Earth. The hollyhock was one of my favorite flowers then, my sister and I used to pick the flower and a bud, insert a toothpick into the bud and then thru the back of the flower and voila! we had instant ballerinas. We would spin them on the concrete to watch them dance. If the toothpick was a strong one she would spin merrily for some time, if it wasn't she would spin a couple times and then fall as tho bowing to the audience. Note: we only did this with gran's permission and when we were done playing with them, before they were wilted, the flower would be placed in a bowl of water to float alongside floating scented candles. A really pretty display in the evening! I cropped and then added a gaussian blur and old canvas filter to this. Thank you for looking and for previous comments!
