Description

The Waldorf Nomad (as it became to be known) was a concept car that Chevrolet released at the same time they unveiled the '53 Corvette (at the "Waldorf Astoria" in New York City, thus-the name). The Corvette car went into production, but the "Nomad" Corvette wagon was never produced. Instead Chevy release a full size version of the Nomad in a Bel Aire wagon. Now this car pictured here, can't be the real one, (no one knows where the real one is, and it would be worth Millions today!), but it's a nice replica with all late model running gear and up-to-date interior. Neat car!

It's really hard to keep the pot boiling under prototypes once they have made their initial splash. I have been around one off airplanes that were used for flight test of other gear because they were not up to spec and could not be kept in the mod and maintenance cycle. This kind of mirror of the corporate libido is alwys fascinating.
