Description

Baby White Rhinoceros, only 3 weeks old. The name of 'White' comes from the Afrikaans for 'wide' . Hunted for their 'prized' horns, at the beginning of the 20th century The Southern White Rhino was at the brink of extinction. It is believed that perhaps only 30 surviving. By 1977 all international trade in rhinos and their products was prohibited. White rhinos were protected and have recovered to around 11,500 but almost all live in one country South Africa !

That is precious. A truly touching, cute little guy!! Babies really are adorable, aren't they!! He's (she's?) got hairy fringed ears, a budding little rhino horn, over-sized feet, lots of wrinkles already and a somewhat spacey look. What an entertaining capture. Thanks for sharing!!
