Description
This page is from an animated book I did as part of a local commercial 2 years ago. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBJX9ia2Kqo) If you blink, you'll miss it, but it was always one of my favorite bits from that spot.
Fort Myers was built along the Caloosahatchee River in Florida as one of the first bases of operations during the Seminole Indian Wars. It was abandoned in 1858 and reoccupied by Federal troops from 1863-1865.
The fort was garrisoned primarily by the 2nd Florida Cavalry (made up mostly of refugees and escaped slaves), a recently detached company of the 110th New York Infantry, and a company of black soldiers of the 2nd United States Colored Infantry.

I'm surprised no-one has commented on your image yet. Ah well, for once I'm glad I can be the first person to leave a comment :) It's good to learn more about America's history - Excellent image and postwork and I love the commercial you created 2 years ago - very impressive animating skills! :)
