Description
Wow, haven't been here in a long time... let's see if I can manage to change that.
Originally Rendered at 1600*1200. Download image for that resolution.
Mech and [Crap]City Model was modeled in Wings3D, everything else is stock Vue 5 Infinite. The concept is based around mimicing Armored Core.
24,838,413 polygons on screen and 45 minutes, 31 seconds to render with Vue 5 Infinite. Could use some more AA in some places, but it works out, and for using settings higher than Vue 5 Infinite's "Ultra" setting at 16x12 res, that's pretty good.
The City model I used was a "blank" city I had originally started for use in making a scene. I stopped working on it, but it proved to be something worthwhile later on, using the "City Ruins" material in the Vue 5 library, worked out to make a ruined-city backdrop. Just some fricken scaling issues with the fricken material - I was trying to make it look like there was more exposed beams and such, but it didn't want to cooperate.
I need to go looking for some plantlife downloads for Vue, the groundplane looks really plain without actual grass on it.
SIDE NOTE:
I'm a n00b to Vue, so be gentle.

Well, for a 'noob' this is really rather good!! If you're looking for some nice grass, bigbraader has some in freestuff here (or I have EcoGrass in the store for a reasonable price) :-)

Material issues non-withstanding, I think you did an excellent job with the scenery and captured the atmosphere very nicely.

I'll be interested in seeing how you progress. This Vue app looks to get fantastic results, especially in the scenery dept. Nice work here, I don't think the distant buildings have to be that detailed. A little fog, mist or atmospherics would take care of that. Cool modeling on the mech!!

Looks pretty good to me, too! I like how the city ruins look, and also how that 'Mech looks. Very cool!
