Description

Many experts were unsure what to expect following the end of Humanity's First Interstellar War. But with the sudden discovery of a world that could support human life, and the end of the fear from unpredictable raids, optimism became the dominant mood. A rapid expansion of existing settlements, new ships, and more portals all seemed to occur at a breakneck speed. Vanguard Industries, who'd already been the largest producer of ships, stepped into the opportunity with many designs that had been started even before the war. This transport was one of their most successful postwar designs. Each major section was of a modular design, and could easily be customized during the manufacturing process. In addition, each of these major sections could be detached from the whole, allowing a ship to be custom-assembled for each specific mission. Often these sections became the basis for a new station, as the ship would arrive, detach those parts which were to remain, and would move on. This made colonization much easier, allowed a great deal of flexibility in mission, and made it possible for transport companies to specialize in moving people and materials without losing a ship for the extended time that a crew was needed in one place. -------------- I'm returning to ship-design ideas, having finally tired of the models I've been re-using for some time, now. This ship was made in Bryce 6, textures are a mix of my own and presets. The background and planet were done in Photoshop, and compositing and postwork all in Photoshop. Thanks for taking a look, and comments/criticisms are welcome, especially if you see something that needs improving. I may not always agree with you, but I do welcome suggestions for how to improve my work.

Superb modelling in Bryce, love the details. You must have a lot of patience to craft such designs.

got some cool ideas on space travel here. I heard on "Coast to Coast" that one oF the moons of Satan or Jupiter as a spaces ship parked there and going around the planet. this reminded me of that story.

Excellent ship design! The only thing that bothers me is the shadow on the planet; it does not seem to match the shadow on the ship. The background starfield is well done. Over all a wonderful picture, I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. Cheers, David
