Description

It was a hazy evening, the sun was low in the sky and there was this bush that caught the light, all full of cobwebs. The light made them glow. I literally felt compelled to take this shot. It did not come out as good as I'd hoped because I'm not a very good photographer. Postwork: a soft-light layer with a gradient effect applied to it so the bottom half is a little more orange and the top half more green. Also messed with the Levels a little bit to bring out the blacks more.

naturally people are going to reassure you given your title and note, but I hope you know it's not just to be nice. Is it your best photograph? Well if you compare it to your most stunning work, it isn't in that category. But the best artists turn out 'best' only on occasion. I like this, acs, and I stayed with it several minutes before I wrote this. The detailing on the bush is nice, with an almost luminous outline to the branches—effect-like, maybe, but very true to what branches can be in sunlight. The cobweb is a small part of the shot, but it's nice to see it across the branches (another thin-line form in your foreground). And of course the dissolve as one goes upwards may not be unique, but you use it effectively. I think there's a fact here: Artists with real quality will put quality into their lesser as well as best works; and if one loves that quality, they'll love them all. I like this picture; I know you've done more stunning ones, but I like it. I personally think you're a powerhouse (yeah, that word), and if I wax on at length it's because you're worth it. If all the users here found you and saw your quality, you'd be flooded with responses. I feel like you're a best-kept secret...Great that you're forever seeking better & deeper work: It will make you both. But in the meantime I like what I see, and I'll take a second-best acs than many people's first-best any day. And that, as they say, is from the heart...
