Description

This small (1/2in)12mm caterpillar caught my eye this morning in the garden with 2 horns from its head I thought it was a slug until I got close. It was on an Acer Japonica, a slow grower at the best of times. I hoped it wasn't the breakfast of this hairy beast.

I'm thrilled to bits you posted this! I saw one way above my head on horse chestnut in the park and took a poor pic, hoping to identify it later. I didn't realise that it was probably full size, I thought I was looking as a newly hatched thing! Superb!
