Description

Thanks for the comments on my previous upload of Kiryl up the tower in St Andrews.... since I kind of said I would today's post is also from up the tower, and I of course took a few scenic shots as well. The benefit this time is that I remembered to bring my wider-angled lens with me and was able to get much more in without having to stitch like before. I clambered over the guard railing and cheekily perched my camera (still holding the strap!) on the edge of the stone to try and get as steady a hold as I could to try and get the bracketed exposures for an HDR image.. this is the result. You see this viewpoint posted across a great number of the postcards you see of the town in the gift/tourist shops so I guess this was my take on it =) Again, a little over four pounds just to climb up there but again I feel time well spent, certainly got my money's worth of photos anyway! Will catch up on all your works/comments etc a bit later on in the day, for now I need to SLEEP having just been for another sunrise at the end of the pier this time... possibly more of which tomorrow hehe, I think I might be a sunrise addict =S Happy belated day of independence to our American friends and a good weekend to all! Adam (p.s. to any who would care to comment how does the border/presentation work for you? - I've been fiddling around trying to decide on a 'border action' in photoshop I'm happy with and this seems to be what I've settled on...a trivial matter really but would be interested in any opinions/suggestions...)

Great tonal control over an extreme exposure range, giving maximum detail and atmosphere, especially in the foreground. I am not a fan of any border which only effects two sides of an image, it suggests a last minute correction of a cropped image to change its shape. Therefore makes you question the original intent, instead of the finished image.I hope this helps.

Superb, Adam! I've rapidly gone off any pic which SCREAMS HDR at me, and yours doesn't, it's just right. (Some peoples look like the appallingly badly hand-coloured images on postcards before the war.) And rather you than me up this high! Great shot.

Fantastic HDR. The lighting and depth came out great. And that's quite a view! I think the border looks great on just the top and bottom. It seems to accentuate the landscape presentation.

A fantastic shot. I love how it's all contained within the three towers, the POV, the cemetery, the look on over the ocean. A superb shot!!

fantastic and well worth the climb. Borders all depend but the one you have chosen is nicely understated and does not take away but adds to your photograph - well done.

Well done on getting up there! I love the cemetery and the subtle HDR. You are blessed with very picturesque environs at St. Andrews. I guess we are too here in Cape Town, yet the drudge of daily travel to work tends to dull inspiration a bit. Thanks for all the comments, and do not give up on the shots of the rocks – your work is an inspiration for me. Cheers, Clive
