Description

I had stopped and gotten out of my truck because I saw a heron perched on a log over a pond that I wanted to capture. He was quite vocal and so were the other birds nearby. I thought it might have been because of me. Then I saw why everyone was so agitated... it was this red-tailed hawk. He flew into this nearby bush, and the heron and other birds quickly departed. You can see him in mid-cry in one picture. It was hot, nearly 100, I was dripping wet, and I had to stop and wipe the sweat out of my eyes. Wouldn't you know it, he had to choose that exact moment to take flight and come straight towards me! With no time to focus or change settings, all I could do was pull up take a few shots. I wish I had gotten this more in focus, but there wasn't time, and I wasn't fast enough. He landed on a highline wire, surprisingly close to me, and a I got a few shots there that I will post later. It may be a bit soft on the focus but still a great capture and worth showing. The one in the bush is fantastic Maria, I can't wait for the next upload. Superb work, excellent presentation. Bravo!!!!!
