Description

In this picture I have attempted to depict a nightly tourist attraction In Broome (Western Australia), which no photographer can resist - the sight of a line of camels walking along the beach with the setting sun behind them. I have not been to Broome, so this render was based on two magazine pictures, (one sent to me by Point Lady, thanks, Jan). One feature of the picture is unavoidably inaccurate. Each Broome camel carries two riders, but I could not find a double camel saddle. Camels, of course, are not indigenous to Australia but they and their drivers were brought here between 1840 and 1907 to carry materials and people across the arid regions before the introduction of the car. When no longer needed the animals were released into the arid regions of Central Australia where they thrived and today there are feral herds of camels roaming the interior which provide the tourist industry camels. What an excellent picture, looks so real. I am a member of a photographic site and I have seen many photos like this and this is just as goof as the real thing!!!
