Description

Another close of of this Magellen Eagle owl the eyes of course are wonderful of any owl and this owl has such clear and alert eyes.. The colour of the eyes is one way you can tell its habits for hunting: Yellowish during daytime (diurnal) Dark : night time (nocturnal) Orange : dusk/dawn (crepuscular) or daytime Unlike man, owls' irises are able to dilate & contract independantly in the two eyes. Often when sitting sideways in the sun, the pupil of the eye facing the sun will be very small, while the pupil of the eye in the shade will be very large. This is most noticeable in the diurnal owls, where one eye will appear as totally yellow with small black dot in the centre & the other totally black with a very thin yellow border. Thanks for taking time to view and for any comments Also to those who saw fit to add some of my recent posts to their fav list

Excellent detail Danny, as Alan says those eyes draw you in, I sense movement in the ears as though a he has heard something and he is trying to locate it. Superb work and a very interesting read. Bravo!!!!!

What great owl photos you have. Thanks for the extra information. Many of us barely get a glimpse of one, much less a chance to photography one.
