Description

Another aerial view. This one shows the curvature of the earth and what the terrain looks like just after you have crossed the Golden Gate Bridge (looking North). Once over the bridge, you drive down the highway seen on the bottom, and through the tunnel. When you come out of it, you can see Mt. Tamalpais (2,571 feet) in the background. Off to the left is Muir Woods, which is a Redwood forest. Off to the right are houseboats and homes of the rich. This is a very affluent area. Those who live here and commute to SF, pay a $5 toll everyday to cross the Golden Gate Bridge. To take a look into Muir Woods and the Redwood forest, click the photograph below, and take a look at the second photo posted in this series. thumb_1696251.jpg

Fascinating view from up here and a lot different to the multiple images one has about the terrain. Great mood because of the haze.

I have "Garlor" take me up in his WWII RAF Spitefire ... lol ... just joking! To tell the truth, it's good seat selection when booking a commercial airline flight. You gotta know what you will pass over, sit on the right side of the plane (whether that be left or right), and have the camera ready to fire away.

It is another good example of what can be seen from an airliner,my gallery has a few but mostly my air views are from 2000feet not 20 000. The Muir woods are likely named after an early campaigner for keeping forests , a Scotsman john Muir.
