Description
A pencil drawing of Oriental brushes & bamboo pen.
I try to capture an intense 'feel' from the brush. They were sacred to some ancient artists.
Graphite & sepia pencils, with a little red wash.

I love the tenderness you give your drawings of the brushes. I can feel the love the old oriental painters had to their tools, the carefulness and almost rituals that they showed caring for their brushes.

The shape of these brushes and unique edge on the bristles is different than I am used to. But, it makes a great deal of sense now that I've seen the style of art that can be produced. Great job!

I believe brushes and drawing tools have distinct personalities just as people and you have certainly brought out that feeling in this!

I love how the details are in all the right places. It's like this image is all texture, leaving us to fill in the rest with our imaginations (great examples of this are the places where you've left out a bit, realizing that the white from the paper provides the suggestion of depth and that filling the gaps would take away that sense). Excellent.

You will not belive this but I love this as it reminds me of a set I saw long ago. A friend had a Uncle who dealt in rare imports from Indonesia and you have captured them so well here.
