What's New with The Art Of Carol Cavalaris
Galleries: I currently exhibit my work in several Colorado galleries, including juried shows at Art At The Center in Nederland, and Gilpin County Art Association in Central City. I also exhibit in several on-line art galleries. I also have on-going exhibits at various banks, community centers, libraries, restaurants, and also participate in local Art Fairs and Festivals. Art Licensing: I am a collectible artist with The Bradford Exchange, where my art is on a Dream Catcher Collection, as well as an exclusive figurine and sculpture collection. My art is also being licensed and is on a variety of products including: eSkins for laptops, iPads, iPhones, etc., puzzles that are being sold in Target, K-Mart, and other retail and web stores. Several of my pieces have been licensed by a company called The Mountain. They produce high-quality, environmentally-friendly T-shirts and other apparel, and have some of the finest wildlife and fantasy artists in the world on their team. in picking a few of your works for today's session (a session I regret I haven't been able to do more often), I was going to do all animals, but when I come here I always go back in your gallery and am reminded of your remarkable painting treatments of so many other things, not to mention your photography. My first encounters with your work was visions like this one, based on real images but cast into a deep realm of inner journey. I know these are real flowers & a hummingbird, but what you've done with them is out of a deep & passionate fairy tale. You've brought out the violet in the flowers, turned them into a kind of oil painting with very tactile textures and your signature highlighting (done, it seems, with increased & saturated hues); the stems take us into the bowels of the image which lead us to a deep chasm of magical dimensions (with strokes of luminous green & turquoise---beautiful); the red area on the right is picked up by the bird's red---and what a luminous treatment of that bird: It seems to have dropped in right out of a psalm---and it all culminates in a canopy of flame-red on top, as if it were protected by an arching fire. Beautiful work, a bristling passionate vision, and with your typical way of combining images & transforming them into a scene from a passionate folktale. And btw, the streaks of greens/blues, the profusion of violet hues, and your wonderful dabs of yellow are just luscious. I hope to be back a lot sooner this time, but boy, coming here is a pleasure. (I'll get to more recent work next time, I promise! I'm back in summer of 2008 here!) Beautiful work as always! And Carol, thank you so much for your comments to my work, they're always very heartfelt, you always find spirit & light in what I do, and they always leave a loving glow in my gallery.
