Description

And again, archives are always worth seeving through, especially when the mind is drained of any fresh ideas at all. This one was retrieved from the files I brought from Shanghai, 2006. Hope you are enjoying your weekend wherever you are. Thank you for your most valuable support of Pouring. Honestly, I was not so sure about its posting. Nikolay

That's interesting, I didn't know the Chinese are horticultural control freaks. I have a friend who has seriously considered divorce, because ,left to himself, her huband would prune every shrub in the garden like this, regardless of their natural habit!

Beautiful work Nikolay! I'm surprised that people don't realize the beautiful sculpturing of shrubs is often the influence of China and or Japan. Especially with regards to bonsai...Most excellent work my friend!

It teases the brain to give definition, ranging between abstract images to balls of fur. Great mood.

This is one of those images that I just know is going to get under my skin and reappear in the future in one of my drawings. Maybe it's the symmetry, I don't know, but it's an exquisite visual.

just lurking around your earlier work...a simple study in the orbs of tangled plants, their dappled surfaces, the big dark presence of each bundle, and their coiled-up-animal stillness against the dark soil. Even the ground has lights in it, the very thing that makes this shot sing (in all its elemental simplicity). Another of your studies of a few things, that winds up being very rich. I like it very much. Those shrub 'balls' almost look edible...
