Description

Special-flower 10 This special flower, is a Bougainvillea dressed as a Bonsai captured in Vietnam, growing and blooming in one of the parks in Dalat. Dalat is located in the southern part of Vietnam in the mountains. Altitude is approx 1500 meter, but is was still warmmmmmmmmm and humidity was high and photo was taken in May 2008. In (south) Europe we are familiar with the Bougainvillae, however dressed and grown like a Bonsai was unknown to me, but I liked it very much. We have seen many of them during our trip in Vietnam. Hope you like this beauty which is blooming quite nice alongside a little lake, in my opinion. Bougainvillea is a genus of flowering plants native to South America from Brazil west to Peru and south to southern Argentina (Chubut Province). Different authors accept between four and 18 species in the genus. The name comes from Louis Antoine de Bougainville, an admiral in the French Navy who encountered the plant in Brazil in 1768 and first described it to Europeans. Oh my!!! Bougainvillae in a bonsai dress!!!! I can actually not believe how stunning it looks! Beautiful image Henk with the blue sky as background! :)
