Description

The Princes' Islands, or more commonly Adalar, "Islands", as they are officially named, are a chain of nine islands off the coast of Istanbul in the Sea of Marmara. The largest three of these islands are Büyükada, Heybeliada and Burgazada. During the summer months the Princes' Islands are popular destinations for day trips from Istanbul. As there is no motorized traffic on the Islands, the only transport being horse and cart, they are marvelously peaceful compared with the city of Istanbul. They are a ferry ride of about an hour and a half from both the Asian and European sides of Istanbul. My Turkish girlfriend and I took the boatride to Büyükada and enjoyed a great tour by horse and carriage around this beautiful, richly wooded island. Thanks for dropping by!
