Description

Hey everybody! When TGD was released I did make some experiments with the program, as you can see in my gallery, though I never got quite used to its interface. Today I picked up good ol' Terragen and started making a landscape in good ol' World Machine ;) I just like the control of the camera and map I have in Terragen. The new program is more a "render tool" while the old one is a real landscape manager. The past has shown that many great artists were capable of delivering astonishing results with the old program and I am willing to set forth my works in vintage style. I hope this latest image can still par with the great new TGD works; as it has no 3d-objects and clouds. Best wishes to all of you renderers and lets hope I can make a fair comeback, Planetscape

Moody picture, looks good :) Think the lighting and haze do it here. Nice surfacing as well. I think you should try to create similar work in TG2. I absolutely don't agree with you that TG2 is a kind of a rendertool. It's the same as good ol' TG0.9x...only 10x more advanced. If I can create decent pictures with it, you sure can too, just stay determined ;) Martin

Lovely render and mood. Beautiful! I do agree with Martin re TG2. from the images I've seen from folks who know what they're doing, awesome moods and scapes can be realized.

Thanks for your commentary :) @Martin and Fractalinda: I never said TG2 isn't a good program or that it can't be used to make wonderful images when used proberly. It's just that I like to old "place the camera on the map and see what happens way". I never used the 3d-view option in TG0.9x as well. I love topographic maps and TG2 is just different in that aspect. The map in TG2 is not important and monochrome, the 3d aspect is more important. That's why I call it a render tool ;)

Blegh, all this mumbo jumbo from me. I'll try to make a similar render in TG2 as you stated! I feel like an old analogue versus digital camera complainer XD
