Alfons Maria Mucha, né à Ivančice (qui faisait alors partie de l'Empire austro-hongrois) le 24 juillet 1860 et mort à Prague le 14 juillet 1939, est un peintre tchèque, fer-de-lance du style Art nouveau. Il meurt à Prague le 14 juillet 1939 à l'age de 79 ans, quelques jours après avoir été interrogé par la Gestapo qui s'intéresse à lui du fait de son appartenance à la franc-maçonnerie. Son corps est jeté à la fosse commune. Une plaque commémorative lui est dédiée au cimetière des Grands Hommes de Prague. À l'époque de sa mort, son style était déjà considéré comme dépassé, mais l'intérêt pour cet art magnifique est réapparu dans les années 1960 et continue périodiquement à inspirer et à influencer les illustrateurs contemporains. Son fils Jiří Mucha, un auteur qui a beaucoup écrit sur son père, a souvent attiré l'attention sur son travail. Alfons Maria Mucha, born in Ivančice (which formed part of then Worsen Austro-Hungarian) on July 24, 1860 and dead in Prague on July 14, 1939, is a Czech painter, iron-of-lance of the style Art nouveau. He dies in Prague on July 14, 1939 with old 79 years, a few days after being questioned by Gestapo which s' interest in him because of its membership of freemasonry. Its body is thrown to the common grave. A commemorative plaque is dedicated to him to the cemetery of the Great men of Prague. With time of its death, its style already was regarded as exceeded, but the interest for this splendid art reappeared in the years 1960 and periodically continues to inspire and influence the contemporary illustrators. His son Jiří Mucha, an author who wrote much on his father, often attracted attention on its work.

Hello my friend. Lost track of you for a while. This is a beautiful render. I love the way this seems to be translucent with light shining through on the one side. Beautiful!

One of your best, Claude, and what an evocative beauty this is. Wondrous spiritual mood, and the light especially is reminiscent of the light in Mucha's art. Excellent!
