Description

I was driving through the rain forest, north of Laguna de Arenal as it was getting dark. This was the second of these strange animals I saw and decided to stop and take a picture. It is a whitenosed Coati, the most diurnal and frequently seen procyonid. They are brownish in color but longer, slimmer and lighter than raccoons. They are found throughout Costa Rica in all types of forests up to 3,000m elevation. This picture was taken on 7 December 2004. Thank you for viewing and commenting on my recent uploads and a special 'Thank you' to those that may have added some of them to their favorites, Sig....
