The texturing is nice on this beautifully colored image, but I'd also love to see it all sleek and shiny, 'twould be gorgeous that way, too.

This is very beautiful and so well done. It has been my experience that the canvas texturing does better on lighter colored images. Perhaps you can change the color gradient to something that is lighter. It's worth a try.
