Description
My friend moonrancher asked How Poser 7 compared to Poser Pro so I thought I would post it here for everyone. Poser Pro boasts a faster render time. It is not faster. I can see some subtle differences but rendertime is actually slower with PP.

Forgot to mention this is firefly engine render test.

Poser Pro will be faster if you render on a 64 bit operating system, with dual core processors and use either the background renderer or the render queue. Otherwise, you are correct about there being no difference in the speeds, since they are using the same 32 bit render engine when you just hit the "render" button. Hope that helps.

Wow. Love the info and this is a great presentation, too. Thanks! The info about the 64-bit engine is useful, and I'm also thinking that HDR might eventually be nice to have. It's hard to take the step right now, though, because I'm still on a 32-bit laptop that threatens to burn up. (And has, the NVIDIA replaced twice.) Not only that, but every time I hear about another 12,000 people losing their jobs, I hide my wallet where I can't find it for a while. Not sure why, even. Glad I have a few more days to decide before the price jumps. :D

I have the 64 bit OS on my wishlist. LOL Dual core I have, I've also got quad cores that wishlist too. LOL Thanks for that info though.

Three cheers for Poser 7 :) I like your test here Luna and thanks for the info.

Excelente esclarecimenteo, aplausos (5) excellent test my friend, in Windows Vista 64 have been using PoserPro, because he seems to be more compatible, but she has great disadvantages in relation to Poser 7, then I have the two, being the runtime of Poser 7 linked to the Pro. Good idea to test the two versions. I can't see much difference in the final result.

Thanks for the test Luna, and 64-bit info from aqdink. I have been wondering if I should go for the PP but think I will pass at this stage.

the one on the left is cleaner. that is my only comment, really. the one on the rigfht looks like those poser people from a long time ago. the one on the left looks like daz or bryce. stick with the one that makes the one on the left ;)

Intteresting stuff...thanks. :)

Interesting info and wonderful image! The differences in versions apply to Bryce also, as I still use the antique 5th version of Bryce and still haven't seen any difference with Bryce6 users' works:-)
Radar_rad-dude
Thanks for showing this test! I really appreciate it! I can't really see any difference in the two. I must have tin eyes! Anyway, my wish list does include migrating to the 64 bit engine and software, but not for quite awhile yet. Great renders too, BTW! Great job of comparisons!

It's a very nice image. Very nice comparaison!

I'm not on 64bit and don't plan on being on one for a little while. Plus I'm happy with Poser 7, I haven't even uncovered the tip of the iceberg on that program so I'll have my hands full for awhile ;) I don't see any real difference in the two versions here, I'm sure the programs differ, but not enough for me to make the jump

Wonderful work.

thank you for share this....I really appreciate .....great info!!

I'd be interested to see what poser 7 renders looked like next to Daz Studio renders. a lot of people seem to consider daz studio a limiting program but I've found it simpler than poser and not limiting at all as long as you know how to use it to best advantage.

Excellent test presentation... and nice portrait render... good job! Hugs

Great idea to share all this information. I am still working with poser5....(sniffle Sniffle) But I really do not see that much difference in the outcome, but there must be tons of differences in the programs. Especially from my p5. Your so wonderful to share all this infor. Thanks again Luna.
tcombs
both look great, but render time is a lot better in P7.
Darkwish
She is very sweet!

Nice comparison, Luna. I use Daz Studio 2.2+ haha. But of what i can see... there is not much difference between P7 and P-Pro. Both look great... 1 minute render time difference is not that bad. And the Golden Girls from LMDesign always looks great #;o)
