Description

I am way too serious, LOL. I had such fun comments from people wanting to take me up on an African Safari and some compared it to making a list like in the movie "Bucket List". Now for those of you who know about the movie, will know why I found it amusing.

My upload today is to tease you further: Have you ever wished you could get this close to a Rhino and her calf, safely, and no, she is not captive, she roams in the wild. Furthermore she has the biggest horn we know of and thus her whereabouts are kept secret for her own safety. I uploaded a bigger than usual version, so feel free to zoom in, there is detail of her udder - something rarely ever spotted. I wonder if this should have been tagged for nudity? :-|

Okay, I quit, LOL! People like PJ, Shari, Spike, Louise, Bonita and Michel showed some interest, we are waiting for you guys. Carin and I can speak American.

I hate to horn in on this conversation, but did you know that the finger and toenails of humans consist of the same material and tissue as a rhinocerous horn? Something for the anti-evolutionists to ponder. Terrific composition of the beasts, landscape and cloud cover in this magnificent capture, Piet!

Top-notch photography: the clarity and sharpness of details are absolutely outstanding and the way you've captured these rhinos is courageous, from my own experience in Nepal! This is fantastic photography, my hat off to you!

Okay, yes, I have been fairly close to a Rhino, but we were moving slowly on a trolley car. This was at the San Diego Wild Animal Park in Ramona, California. The animals are all loose in a setting that is like their homeland, and all humans are caged in the trolley - the way it should be. They have large areas to roam about with native plants all around their habitat. The vets having to catch them to give them their health checks every now and then is rather amusing to watch. ;o) Excellent capture, and I have not ever seen a horn that large, yet!!

At first I was attracted to her long horns (WOW!!!). I guess that old saying of You play with the Bull...You get the Horns can be looked at in a different way. Well, I wont mess with this Lady. But now, you got my attention elsewhere...(not saying what). I'm glad they are safe and hope they remain safe. Keep a safe distance my friend. Excellent post. Aloha PS...I just bought some Safari Clothing, is bright orange ok?.....I'll be joining your tour.

An awesome image! The texture is splendid, so incredibly real, coming right off the page! A most beautiful moody sky, as it seems to be "closing in". These two are most definitely very cute! But I'm a little quirky about those horns..... :) A beautiful photograph!
