Description

a cacophony of lights and sounds, barraging the senses, smells of variety foods... pizzas, hot dogs, mini donuts.... wafting the air, laughing kids, screams from the fast rides, first dates from high school, dressing like the wild west. a time of dress up for adults, a fantasy loosely (very loosely) based on history... a time when bankers can become banditos, consultants can become cowboys and cowgirls, cowboy hats and the Canadian Tuxedo (blue jeans and a jean jacket) is high fashion. The First Nations set up tipis, and share an ancient culture, a civilization broad and dignified. but it's the midway that attracts... rides, foods, hawkers.... (yeah, right... what would I do with an armfull of slum?).... an assault, but one that attracts a million people a year.... when it's over, the bankers turn in their cowboy hats, put on the suits, and pretend it never happened.... long exposure, .7 second, handheld. Kodak digital, 5 mega pixel. comments welcome, please enjoy!

When we still lived in Oklahoma, some friends of ours who are from Calgary, took us on vacation and we went to The Stampede. Gotta say that it was the most awesome adventure my family and I ever had!! Amazing!!!!!!

Oh right the stampede is a celebration, I thought it might be like the running of the bulls in Spain...only with Canadians and snow...DOH ! You have captured the festive mood and I can almost smell the yummie food from here ! Well done & ~Cheers~

I get a merry sense of the crowd from the lively photo work. Well done. I kinda like Jeff's idea of the running of the bulls using people. Now that would be challenging.
