Description

My first attempt at a still life, all comments/criticisms/suggestions particularly welcome. Postwork in paintshop 8. Thanks for looking.

the composition is very nice with the reflective wood and fallen petals, i also think the soft look works well for the flowers here, maybe the glass would have looked better a little sharper though.. good non-distracting background i think a fine first attempt =)

I agree with Meowgli's comments. Also, some more directional light, maybe? To bring out some highlights in the vase? Good first attempt, yes.

This is a beautiful shot. Playing around with depth of field can be difficult. To get the rose and the vase to be of equal sharpness might produced an desirable image, however I like the painterly quaility to what is here - good post work.
