I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

great scene Bob
Planetscape
The landscape and your idea with it have lot's of potential! I think a slight rework of the camera could turn this fine image into a brilliant one! Perhaps you could free the tree from the borders and put it at about 2/3 of the image. The mountain at 1/3(a bit more to the left). If there are any problems with the water, move the camera a bit to the left, so the same water will be displayed as in this image. The balloons could add for a nice sence of scale if you would line them up at a more subtile position. Say at about the same distance as the mountain. It'll make the mountain look huge! It's just my point of view, do with it as you please! :)

The scene is just wonderful, Bob, and your work is excellent in all aspects. I can't believe the water. I've worked and worked with the water settings in TG2..and always come up short. Very impressive!

I'm a few days late on my comments - but one of the more complex renders I've see you put out. Must have taken a lot of time & effort on your part - and well worth it! Regardless of the stones, it's still very nicely done & better than I'm able to do right now!
