Description

Now I know why I have been carrying my camera around with me! By sheer luck I was able to capture these magnificent baby birds in their nest. I am told they are House Martins, but I think they may be Swallows. I have made every attempt to find them by their distinguising yellow marks at the side of their beaks to no avail. Grateful for any help. There are actually 4 babies and two parents that live in this nest which is in a dustbin shed on a large council housing estate. I took several photos but didn't want to disturb them, so they were quick shots but I am pleased with the outcome. The nest is a truly superb piece of art work and must have taken many pain staking hours to construct. It was such joy to see them. So beautiful. A real feel good factor. They were all out flying when I arrived and slowly but surely entered the shed and settled. I know we can only see two but the four babies are definately in the nest as I saw them enter it. Such graceful in the air too. They were not concerned in the slightest by my presence. I will post a couple more captures over the next few days. Thank you for viewing and comments. Susan

If it's a barn swallow, their nests are usually high toward a ceiling and made basically of mud. We have them in our garage and they are quick. Great shot.
