Description

At nights, the entry of lava into the sea radiates a beautiful sight. It just draws you closer and closer to get a better look. But the danger of the plume, exploding lava and fragile bench is there. I'm well aware of that and stayed back at a safe distance. On our return and keeping an watchful eye on my wife so she comes home safely, I tripped, fell face down, broke my front tooth and got a bloody fat lip. With all the Judo training and experience I had, I didn't break my fall. My pride was broken but at least my camera is safe.....Whew!!! Aloha and thank you for viewing.

Thank you for risking life and tooth to bring us such a beautiful shot. A trip to Hawaii to see an active volcano spewing lava is on my Bucket List. I hope I get that scratched off my list before I "kick the bucket".

This is spectacular, Errol! Sorry to hear about your tooth, but at least you saved the camera LOL. It's a lot more likely that your tooth is insured than your camera.

The art of falling...I know it so well. I have learned to jsutu go with it - don't try to be your own hero. :-) I have been known to fall and not ruin the cigarette in my hand. I have fallen and never spilled a drop of my drink. I have also been walking and done nothing at all but ended up breaking my foot - from WALKING! I say, falling and not breaking the camera is as stellar as this shot! LOL

A chipped tooth and a fat lip? A small price to pay for this awesome spectacle...but I feel you pain buddy. I've eaten it a few times on lava, but managed to get one arm down before I hit the ground....still painful! Take it easy and enjoy your images, this ones "KILLER"!! Aloha~
