Description

My wonderful feline buddy of twenty years passed away today. Cody, aka The Dude (we nick-named him that after the main character in "The Big Lebowski") got 19 years more than anyone thought he would have, because he came to live with us. Twenty years ago he was on his last day at the Denver Dumb Friends League in Golden, CO because as a kitten he beat up the previous owner's full grown Pomeranian on a regular basis:) Nobody seemed to want this big six month old bruiser. He loved boxing (and I mean he really liked to box!), sleeping with me under the covers on a cold night, piling up on me and blocking the tv set:), and most of all, slurping up the milk left in Dad's cereal bowl. Dude, you will always be loved and much missed. With him in the pic is his fave toy- he carried it around like a dog in his mouth wherever he went for many years. We buried it with him.

20 years of ruling the world, The Dude certainly had a long and productive (as far as cats go) life. Hopefully they're ready for him where he is now and keep the Pomeranians away.

This is very sad news indeed ! I am sorry for your loss. As always when speaking to someone about the death of a loved one, I direct them to the words of Abraham Lincoln; "I pray that our heavenly father will assuage the anguish of your bereavement, leaving only the cherished memory of the loved and lost."

I am so sorry to hear of your precious buddy passing on. Your pain will never go away but it will ease with time and the loving memories of twenty years with that feline as part of your life. Dude will live on forever as long as you continue to remember him. He sounds like he was a wonderful friend for you. With every tear shed, out comes another memory that will put a smile on your face. My heart felt condolences to you and those that were touched by your precious Dude.

I'm so sorry. We lost our 20-year-old Toby, a flame-point Himalayan, on June 16. We lost a dear member of our family, too.

Goodbye, Cody. Hope you catch lots of fish, have many knock out rounds, send fuzzy hugs to your humans on the coldest nights, and slurp the sweetness of Heaven’s milk to your heart's content. Warmest hugs to you and Bill, Laurie. CC

I´m sorry to hear that your Dude has passed away, I lost my dog 3 weeks ago in a age of 14.5, it leaves a deep cap that for sure......I hope you will find a way to give it a place, I still struggle with it to be honest and miss my dog badly....it seems that DUDE had a wonderful loving life in your family, and that's all what count for a beloved animal

A beautiful image but with such sad commentary. Treasure and cherish the memories you have of him and reflect always on the love you shared. At the end of Summer, beyond the Rainbow Bridge, he will be waiting to box with you again and have his favored toy waiting by his side. My deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved companion and friend.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww...this is so sad! I say this as I'm keeping an eye on a sick pet myself. It is so hard to lose them; they always take a big piece of our hearts with them.
